What do you need?
We reply within one business day (Arizona time).
Before you come in
  • Back up your data.
  • For trade-ins: sign out of iCloud / Google and turn off Find My.
  • Bring the charger and any accessories you're trading.
  • Bring photo ID — required for trade-ins.

Sunbolt Camelback and Sunbolt Desert Ridge both offer trade-in appraisal and repair intake. Bring your phone, tablet or laptop to either store, and a specialist will inspect it at the counter. For trade-ins, we give you an appraisal you can put toward a new device. For repairs, we diagnose the fault and give you a quote after inspection.

How does a trade-in appraisal work?

Bring your device to either store with its charger if you have it. We check that it powers on, inspect the screen and body, test key functions and battery health, and confirm it is signed out of all accounts. We then give you an appraisal. If you accept, the value goes toward your purchase that day.

  1. Prepare the device using the checklist below.
  2. Visit either store: no appointment needed during opening hours.
  3. We inspect it at the counter, usually while you browse.
  4. We give you an appraisal based on model, storage and condition.
  5. Accept or decline. If you accept, we wipe the device and apply the value to your purchase. If you decline, you take it home.

You can combine trade-in with our Phone Setup & Data Transfer or Laptop Setup & Optimization service, so your new device is set up from the old one before we take it.

What affects trade-in value?

Trade-in value depends mainly on the model, storage size and condition. A recent model in good condition, unlocked and signed out of its accounts, appraises highest. Cracks, heavy wear, poor battery health and faults lower the value. A device with an active activation lock cannot be accepted.

Factor What we check
Model and storage Which device it is and how much storage it has
Screen Cracks, scratches, dead pixels and touch response
Body Dents, cracks and wear to the frame and back
Battery health Reported battery health and how the device holds charge
Functions Cameras, speakers, microphones, buttons, ports and biometrics
Lock status Signed out of all accounts, no activation lock, carrier status
Accessories Original charger and box can help but are not required

How do you prepare a device for trade-in?

Back up your data, sign out of every account, turn off device protection and remove your SIM and memory cards. Doing this before you come in makes the appraisal faster and protects your information. We erase every traded-in device, but signing out yourself is the step that removes the activation lock.

iPhone and iPad

  • Back up to iCloud or a computer.
  • Unpair your Apple Watch if you have one.
  • Sign out of your Apple Account and turn off Find My.
  • Choose Erase All Content and Settings, or leave this to us at the counter.

Android phones and tablets

  • Back up to your Google account or, for Samsung, with Samsung Cloud or Smart Switch.
  • Remove your Google account (and Samsung account) from the device.
  • Reset to factory settings, or leave this to us at the counter.

Laptops

  • Back up files to an external drive, such as a Samsung T7 Portable SSD, or to the cloud.
  • Sign out of your Apple Account, Microsoft account and other services, and turn off Find My Mac where relevant.
  • Deauthorize apps and services that limit the number of computers.

Remove SIM cards, eSIM profiles you no longer need, memory cards and any cases.

What repairs does Sunbolt handle?

Our repair intake handles common faults on phones, tablets and laptops. The repairs we see most are cracked screens, worn batteries and charging ports that no longer connect reliably. Every repair starts with an inspection, and we give you a quote after inspection before any work begins.

  • Screen repairs: cracked glass, display damage, unresponsive touch.
  • Battery replacement: a battery that drains quickly, shuts down unexpectedly or has swollen. Arizona heat speeds up battery wear; our desert heat guide explains why.
  • Charging port repairs: loose connections, intermittent charging, debris or damage in the port.
  • Other faults: buttons, speakers, cameras and laptop issues are assessed at intake.

A swollen battery is a safety concern. Stop using and charging the device and bring it in promptly.

How does repair intake work?

Bring the device and, if possible, your proof of purchase to either store. We record the fault, inspect the device and check whether it is covered by the manufacturer’s warranty or a SunCare protection plan. You receive a quote after inspection. Work starts only when you approve it, and we contact you when it is ready.

  1. Back up your data if the device still works.
  2. Visit either store with the device and charger.
  3. We record the fault and inspect the device.
  4. We check coverage under the manufacturer’s warranty or your SunCare plan.
  5. You receive a quote and an estimated timeframe after inspection.
  6. You approve the work, and we contact you when it is done.

Timeframes depend on the repair and parts availability, so we do not promise fixed turnaround times. We keep you updated if anything changes.

Where can you trade in or repair a device?

Both stores offer trade-in appraisal and repair intake during store opening hours (shown live on our store pages):

FAQ

Trade-in & repair questions

How does trade-in work at Sunbolt?

Bring your device to Sunbolt Camelback or Sunbolt Desert Ridge. We inspect it at the counter, check it powers on and is signed out of its accounts, and give you an appraisal based on model, storage and condition. If you accept, the value goes toward your purchase.

What affects my trade-in value?

The main factors are the model and storage size, the condition of the screen and body, battery health, whether all functions work, and whether the device is unlocked and signed out of every account. Devices with an activation lock cannot be accepted.

What repairs does Sunbolt handle?

The most common repairs we take in are cracked screens, worn batteries and faulty charging ports on phones and tablets. We also take intake for laptop faults and other issues. We inspect every device and give you a quote after inspection.

How much does a repair cost?

Repair costs depend on the device, the fault and parts, so we give a quote after inspection. If the device is covered by the manufacturer's warranty or a SunCare protection plan, we explain what is covered and any fee under the plan terms.

How long does a repair take?

It depends on the repair and parts availability. We give you an estimate once we have inspected the device, and we contact you when it is ready. We do not guarantee turnaround times, because parts and diagnosis vary.

Do I need to back up my device before trade-in or repair?

Yes. Back up everything before you come in. Trade-in devices are fully erased, and repairs can sometimes erase data too. We cannot guarantee data recovery, so a current backup is the best protection.

Do I need an appointment?

No appointment is needed for trade-in appraisal or repair intake at either store during opening hours. Calling ahead helps on busy weekends, and you can check opening hours on each store's page.

Can I trade in a device that does not work?

Sometimes. Some non-working devices still have trade-in value, depending on the model and the fault. Bring it in and we will appraise it. If it has no trade-in value, we can point you to responsible electronics recycling.
